Privacy Policy
Last updated: 16 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Rate My CV (“Rate My CV”, the “Service”), operated by The Human Capital Hub (“we”, “us”), collects and uses information. Rate My CV is designed to be used anonymously and to collect as little personal data as possible.
1. The most important thing to know
Rate My CV is a publicservice. Any CV you post, and the ratings, verdicts and comments it attracts, are visible to anyone and can be shared — including as automatically generated share-card images. Do not upload anything you are not comfortable making public. We automatically redact names and employers and strip links, but you remain responsible for removing any other details you wish to keep private before you post.
2. Information we collect
- CV content you upload. The pages of the CV you submit, which are published publicly within the Service after redaction.
- Identity data.An anonymous “passport” token stored in your browser identifies your activity without identifying you personally. If you choose to register, we store a nickname and a passphrase, which is kept only as a secure one-way hash. We do not require your real name.
- Email address (optional). You may choose to add an email address so we can notify you when your CV receives activity. This is entirely optional, is never shown publicly, and is only used to send the notifications you opt into — we do not use it for marketing. We send a verification email to confirm the address, and every notification email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can change which emails you receive, or remove your address entirely, at any time from your profile.
- Activity data. Ratings, verdicts, comments, votes, duel picks, badges, streaks and similar interactions you generate.
- Technical data.Standard information our hosting providers process to deliver and secure the Service, such as IP address, browser type and request logs, plus tokens we store in your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in.
3. How we use information
- To operate the Service — display CVs, record ratings and comments, run duels and leaderboards.
- To maintain your anonymous or registered identity and your progress (cred, badges, streaks).
- To send you notification emails about activity on your CV, but only if you have added and verified an email address and opted in.
- To moderate content, handle reports, prevent abuse and keep the Service secure.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the Service is used so we can improve it.
4. Cookies, local storage and analytics
We store small tokens in your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your anonymous passport. We may use privacy- respecting analytics, such as Google Analytics, to measure aggregate usage and the traffic between Rate My CV and The Human Capital Hub. Analytics providers may set their own cookies. You can clear local storage and cookies in your browser at any time; doing so will sign you out and reset your anonymous identity.
5. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- Publicly, as the nature of the Service requires (your posted CV and its verdicts).
- With service providerswho host and run the Service on our behalf — for example our application host (Vercel), our server and database infrastructure, and, if you opt into email notifications, the email delivery provider that sends them — under appropriate obligations.
- Where required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and security of users and the Service.
6. Data retention
We keep content and activity data for as long as it remains part of the Service or as needed for the purposes above. When you delete a CV it is removed from public view; residual copies may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
7. Your choices and rights
You can delete a CV you posted at any time from within the Service. If you added an email address, you can change your notification preferences, unsubscribe from any email, or remove the address entirely from your profile. You can clear your browser storage to remove your local identity. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold about you. To make a request, email us at the address below; because the Service is anonymous, we may need information that lets us locate the relevant content.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the Service, contact us and we will remove the relevant content.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the Service, including hashing passphrases and serving the Service over encrypted connections. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International users
The Service may be operated from, and data processed in, countries other than your own. By using the Service you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be reflected on this page.
